Different ‘hats’ we wear
I was thinking today about all the different roles we play in our lives. We all have out moments when we are by ourselves. Our bum outfits or our pj’s where we don’t care what others think about what we look like.
We have our work uniforms whether if we work at a retail, grocery, or fast food place. We are required to look a certain way or get in trouble because of it.
We also wear uniforms if we work in other areas. Sometimes this is out of safety reasons like if you are a construction worker.
Some uniforms are created by a need. For example, if we are job hunting on a professional level, then we will dress very professional in order to make ourselves more appealing to the potential employer.
We also have the ‘hats’ that apply to relationships and not necessarily our clothing. We have parent, grandparent, uncle/aunt, cousin, brother/sister, friend, student, intern, blogger, employee, boss, and others.
Basically all this is to say that I understand how Benjamin Franklin used to get confused at what hat he needed to wear to his various responsibilities around the town.
I personally have more than 10 different ‘hats’ I wear, sometimes I can wear most of them in one day.
